2 Sketches 4 You – Kazan’s Sketch 39

2009 November 9
by Sarah Martina

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was busy with the baby’s birthday on Saturday, but it definitely wasn’t lacking in the fun department. :-) Thanks again for all of your well wishes and sweet words on this post, too. Sydney and I sat together and read each comment, and you should have seen her wide smile. :-)

Today’s card is based on this week’s sketch by Kazan over at 2 Sketches 4 You. Fun sketch, isn’t it? I still have tons of ideas flying through my head for this one. Love it so much. Our sponsor for this week is DRS Designs. I used the Harvest Postage Frame and some images from Fall Leaf Background, both of which can be found in the DRS Designs online catalog.

I really love the rustic feel of these images. They’re so versatile… And let me tell ya, I was this close to creating a Christmas themed project with these stamps, but I decided against it at the last minute. Maybe I’ll finish that card up and share it with you later, or soon. ;-)

Well thanks for stopping by! If I could, I’d fix you a nice hot cup of coffe or tea to start your week off right! :-) Do what you need to do to wake up, then come play along with us over at 2S4Y!

*Hugs & Love!*

****This post is brought to you by Sydney Martina, my daughter, first hand. ****

My  card  is disined  by  a  little girl  named  Emma.

I    made this card for my brother’s birthday wich is November 7. He is turning  2.

My mother helped me  make my card by cuting my paper.I aded the  ribin and all  of the deckorations. I cut  the number two out.

Thaks for looking at my  card!!!!!!

****Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.****

Hey y’all! (It’s me now… lol!)

If you can’t tell, this post (above) was written by my Syd. She really loves playing with crafts, and so I thought I’d let her have complete control with this challenge. As she mentioned, I wasn’t quite ready to let her take over the paper trimmer yet, but everything else was all her!

I bet she and M would have a ball together. :-) Check out the post of M’s challenge here.

The DEETS for SYD’S CARD: Card Stock (Papertrey Ink – New Leaf) | Patterned Paper (American Crafts – Junior) | Stamps (Martha Stewart – Baby Boy, Inkadinkado - Sentiment) | Ink (Papertrey Ink – Enchanted Evening, Martha Stewart – Ocean & Dusk Blue) | Ribbon (Papertrey Ink – New Leaf)

 ————————————————————————————————————————————————-

And lastly…. Tomorrow is my little man’s birthday… o. m. g.

It’s hard to believe he’s 2 already. I’m so proud of him. I’m so surprised at how well we have bonded, but so grateful. When we found out we were having a boy Sydney was 3, and to be honest, I wasn’t all that excited. All I had to go by (for the most part)  were the little 3-year-old boys in Sydney’s class, and they were little terrors. Lol… They made me glad I had a little girl. :-)  But you know what?  The amazing part is that as different as Sie is from his sister, there are so many countless reasons that I love him, each one unique to him. For instance, he smiles instantly when we catch each other’s eye, his cheeks are as soft as clouds, he loves football, he eats all of my cooking, and his days always start off with a giggle and a “Heeeyyyy!”

Some more things about my little Sie:

  • He eats things off the floor and from the trash can. What? He’s sneaky! And fast!.
  • He falls and scrapes his knee only to yell at the pavement. Super tought guy.
  • He climbs on furniture and stands on his tip toes and jumps!
  • He rearranges furniture in the house, but he almost always puts it back.
  • He hates to wear shoes and comes home from school with at least one shoe in hand.
  • He LOVES to eat. Everything.
  • He has trouble making the “S” sound. Hence, “Didney” instead of “Sydney.” Lol…
  • He loves the Barney song, but has never seen that show in his life.
  • He highly prefers to play outside, and most of all…
  • He LOVES cars.

Well I’m off to make a list so I don’t forget anything for his party tomorrow! Here are some pics I snapped today when we had cupcakes with his classmates in celebration of his big day:

Have a great weekend!

*’Tis the Season*

Hey y’all!

I just thought I’d share a card with you all that I made last week some time for the 2 Peas in a Bucket’s Fall Stamp Camp 2009. This particular class in the series was taught by Nichol Magouirk, and it was all sorts of fun. The focus was background stamping. I never submitted this to the challenge, but I still had so much fun and wanted to share it.

I first stamped the background image, then I distressed over it using the same ink. After that I ran it through an embossing folder and sanded down the raised portions a bit. Easy peasy.

Thanks for all of your love on my last post, it is getting me through these long days!

*Hugs & Love!*

The DEETS: Card Stock (Papertrey Ink – Rutic Cream) | Stamps (Hero Arts – Antique Brocade, TBA**) | Ink (Ranger Distress Inks - Vintage Photo, Colorbox – Red) | Velvet & Grosgrain ribbon (Michael’s) | Bell (Stash) | Twine (Papertrey Ink) | Embossing Folder (Cuttle Bug – Swiss Dots) | Corner Rounder (EK Success)

The HOW TO: Trim cream card stock to 4.25″x5″ card and round bottom corners. Stamp background image on separate cream card stock, then distress using same ink. Dry emboss stamped card stock, then lightly sand down raised portions. Adhere to bottom of card using foam adhesive. Stamp ornament images and cut out. Add velvet and grosgrain ribbon. Tie on bell with twine, then add stamped ornaments with foam adhesive.  Stamp sentiment.

Some *2S4Y* Cards and Fab News!

2009 November 3
by Sarah Martina

Hey y’all!

I just thought I would share these cards I made for the latest 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team Call…

I had a lot of fun with these, and I guess it paid off because I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the Winter 2009 Design Team members! Yippeee!!! Ok…. I realize that the majority of you knew this already since the announcement was made yesterday, but I wanted to share my cards, and I couldn’t leave out the story, so… indulge me… Lol! :-)

The sketches for the above cards can be found here.

I have been playing with 2 Sketches 4 You since July of this year, but I had been stalking the weekly challenges since long before that when I discovered them on Savitri’s blog. Well, I look up to my girl Savitri as a designer so much, and as it turned out, 2S4Y also became a group that I admired greatly. I saw  them as the creme de la creme. So, you can see why this fab news is really quite exciting for me, and a bit surreal. :-) I’m so grateful to have this opportunity.  And have you seen the other new members??? Woah! What an honor this all is!  Thanks so much for your support!

———————————————————————————————————————–

Well, I sure hope to see some of you ladies participating over at 2S4Y! Here’s the current sketch:

If my encouragement isn’t quite enough… consider the fact that you could win some awesome Sakura Stardust Pens PLUS a set full of stamps by Starving Artistamps! Think you’re ready to give it a go? Well GO for it!  Have a great Tuesday!

*Birthday* Wishes

2009 October 28
by Sarah Martina

Happy Hump Day y’all!

Birthday Wishes 1

This is a card  I made for the latest Raspberry Suite Color Challenge. This is the 3rd card I made with this combo… I tried at first to be witty and clever with sneaking the colors in here and there, but it just didn’t work. So I said forget it, I’m letting the colors scream out loud! And this is the result…

Birthday Wishes 2

I’m in l-o-v-e with the Giga Guidelines stamped in chocolate on kraft. I’m using Colorbox Fluid Chalk Dark Brown ink here… man have I been missing out! I want this ink in every color! It’s just perfect. And the font size on the sentiments in this set is perfect for me, too. One thing I can’t stand is a set full of a bagillion illegible sentiments that you need a magnifying glass to read. That is not the case with this set, I assure you.

And of course, my ribbon… gotta love ribbon. :-)

Hope your day is going well! Talk to ya soon!

*Hugs & Love!*
